Spiritual Disciplines, Part 3
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been slowly adding to our understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus. A follower of Jesus is a disciple, an apprentice, learning the ways of the master, Jesus. The goal of a follower of Jesus was this: “…to grow and mature into the kind of person who can say and do all the things Jesus did.” It was assumed that an apprentice of Jesus spent time with Jesus, learned to do as he did, in order to become more and more like him.
Our guide on this journey is fellow traveler and author, John Mark Comer. We’re loosely following his map as developed in the book that came out last year, Practicing the Way: Be with Jesus, Become like Him, Do as he Did. So what did Jesus do and how did that advance his message of the Kingdom? Dave offers some practical ways, with the help of Comer, on how we can follow Jesus’ example in taking the Kingdom to the places where God has strategically placed us.
